How to connect a Pickup Pod to Ethernet
By default, Pickup Pods connect to the Internet through a cellular network (specifically, Verizon 4G). However, a pod can connect to a WiFi network or with an Ethernet cable. This article explains how to connect a pod with an Ethernet cable. To connect a pod to a WiFi network, see the article "How to connect a Pickup Pod to a WiFi network."
To connect a pod with an Ethernet cable, the following conditions must be met:
-
the Ethernet network cannot have a firewall that prevents external devices from connecting;
-
the Ethernet network cannot require users to accept terms and conditions;
-
the Ethernet network cannot require users to register.
- Port TCP 8883 should be open.
If the Ethernet network meets these conditions, it should be possible to connect a pod to the network by following these steps:
- Plug the Ethernet cable into the pod. The plug inlet is located on the back of the pod, in the center, about 6.5" inches above the ground.
- The pod will connect to the Ethernet network automatically.
